Caption bar

This meme generator turns your own picture, or a blank colored canvas, into a meme with classic top and bottom text, extra text boxes, emoji and caption bars. Drag, resize and rotate everything on the image, then save a PNG or JPG at full resolution with no watermark. It runs in your browser, so the picture is never uploaded.

How to use

  1. Tap Image to use your own picture (or drop or paste it), or Blank for a colored canvas.
  2. Type the top and bottom text. It uses the classic white letters with a black outline.
  3. Tap Text to add more text boxes and Emoji to add stickers. Drag to move, pull the corner to resize, pull the round handle to rotate.
  4. Select a text to change its size, outline, color and font. Add a caption bar above or below the picture for the newer caption style.
  5. Download PNG or JPG at the picture’s full resolution, or copy it to paste into a chat.
  • Everything happens in your browser. Your picture is never uploaded, and there is no watermark.
  • The meme font is Impact when your device has it, otherwise the boldest system font, always with an outline so it stays readable on any background.
  • Exports keep the original pixel size of your picture (very large images are capped at 8000 px on the long side). JPG is smaller; PNG keeps text edges sharper.
  • Only use pictures you have the right to use. Utiluse does not include meme template images.

Two meme styles

The classic style puts white capital letters with a black outline at the top and bottom of the picture. The font is Impact when your device has it, otherwise the boldest system font, and the outline keeps it readable on any background.

The newer caption style adds a white or black bar above or below the picture and puts the text there, so nothing in the image is covered. It suits screenshots, reaction images and longer jokes.

Writing text that works

Short lines read best: most good memes have fewer than ten words on each line. The setup goes at the top, the punchline at the bottom. Increase the outline width on busy photos, and use a caption bar when the text would cover a face. Emoji stickers can be dragged, resized and rotated like text.

Pictures and sizes

The export keeps the original pixel size of your picture, capped at 8000 px on the long side. JPG files are smaller and fine for chats; PNG keeps text edges sharper. Copy the finished meme and paste it straight into a message. Use only pictures you have the right to use; no template images are included.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a meme with my own picture?

Tap Image and choose a photo, or drop or paste it. Type the top and bottom text, adjust size and position, then download or copy the result.

What font do memes use?

The classic meme font is Impact in white with a black outline. It is used here when your device has it; otherwise the boldest available system font is used with the same outline.

Does the meme have a watermark?

No. The downloaded image contains only your picture and the text and emoji you added.

Can I add more than two text boxes?

Yes. Tap Text to add as many boxes as you need, and drag, resize or rotate each one. Each box can have its own size, color, outline and font.

Can I make a meme without a picture?

Yes. Choose Blank to start from a colored canvas, which works for text-only memes and quote images.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. The meme is drawn in your browser, so the picture never leaves your device.
