Isometric paper uses lines at 30° to the horizontal plus verticals, forming equilateral triangles, so the three axes of a cube sit 120° apart. Print it as lines or dots for 3D sketches, game maps and product drawings, at the spacing you choose.

How to use

  1. Pick a paper type: graph, lined, dot grid, isometric, hexagon, music staff, Cornell or calligraphy.
  2. Choose the paper size and orientation, then the spacing (mm or inches) or a ruling preset.
  3. Set the line color, weight and page margin; the preview updates as you go.
  4. Download a vector PDF with as many pages as you need, or print directly.
  • PDFs are vector, so lines stay sharp at any printer resolution. Print at 100% / “Actual size” to keep exact spacing.
  • Most printers can’t print to the very edge; keep a margin of at least 5 mm.
  • College ruled is 9/32″ (7.1 mm), wide ruled 11/32″ (8.7 mm), narrow 1/4″ (6.35 mm). Seyès uses 8 mm squares with 2 mm guide lines.
  • Wongoji (Korean manuscript paper) has its own page with an online manuscript that lays your text into the grid by the standard rules.

Standard spacings

Graph paper usually comes in 5 mm squares in metric countries and ¼ inch (4 squares per inch) in the US, with 1 mm millimeter paper for precise plotting. US notebook ruling is college ruled at 9/32 inch (7.1 mm), wide ruled at 11/32 inch (8.7 mm) and narrow at ¼ inch (6.35 mm). French Seyès paper uses 8 mm squares with three fine lines inside each, and Japanese notebooks label their ruling A (7 mm) and B (6 mm).

Dot grids for bullet journals are almost always 5 mm, which keeps the dots light enough to write over.

Printing at the right scale

Because the PDF is vector, lines stay sharp on any printer. Print at 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page, otherwise a 5 mm grid shrinks to about 4.8 mm. Most printers cannot reach the paper edge, so keep a margin of at least 5 mm. Light gray or blue lines at 0.3–0.5 pt guide the hand without dominating what you write.

Frequently asked questions

How do I print graph paper at the exact size?

Download the PDF and print at 100% or Actual size with page scaling turned off. Measure ten squares with a ruler to check: on 5 mm paper they should span 5 cm.

What is the spacing of college ruled paper?

9/32 inch, about 7.1 mm. Wide ruled is 11/32 inch (8.7 mm) and narrow ruled ¼ inch (6.35 mm).

What dot spacing is best for a bullet journal?

5 mm is the common standard; it fits small handwriting and makes grids, boxes and calendars easy to draw.

What is isometric paper used for?

Drawing 3D objects without perspective: the grid has lines at 30° to the horizontal and vertical lines, so cubes and boxes line up naturally. Game designers and engineers use it for sketches and maps.

Can I print on A4 and Letter?

Yes. Pick A4, Letter, Legal, A5 and other sizes in portrait or landscape; the grid is recalculated to fill the printable area.

Is anything uploaded when I make a PDF?

No. The PDF is built in your browser, and your settings are only remembered on this device.
