Gross pay before tax and deductions. Estimates only, not financial or tax advice; your contract and local law decide how overtime and leave are paid.
Turn an hourly wage into annual pay: hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks per year. At 40 hours and 52 weeks that is 2,080 hours, so $25 an hour is $52,000 a year, $4,333 a month and $2,000 every two weeks. Change the hours or weeks to match part-time work or unpaid time off.
How to use
- Enter your pay and pick the period it’s paid in: hourly, daily, weekly, every 2 weeks, twice a month, monthly or yearly.
- Set hours per week, days per week and paid weeks per year. Every other period is shown at once; tap a row to copy it.
- Add paid days off (holidays and vacation) to see what you earn per hour actually worked.
- Overtime: enter your hourly rate, regular and overtime hours, and pick the multiplier (×1.5 is time and a half).
- Raise: enter your current pay and the raise as a percent, an amount or the new pay.
- Yearly pay = hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks per year. 40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours.
- Monthly is yearly ÷ 12, twice a month is yearly ÷ 24, every 2 weeks is weekly × 2 (26 paychecks a year).
- If your time off is unpaid, lower the paid weeks per year instead of entering paid days off.
- All amounts are gross. No income tax, social security or state tax tables are applied.
- Overtime rules differ: in the US, non-exempt employees get at least ×1.5 after 40 hours a week; some states also count daily overtime.
The formulas
Yearly pay = hourly rate × hours per week × paid weeks per year. A standard full-time year is 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours. Monthly pay is yearly ÷ 12, semi-monthly (twice a month) is yearly ÷ 24, and biweekly is weekly × 2, which gives 26 paychecks a year.
Example: $30 an hour × 2,080 = $62,400 a year, $5,200 a month, $2,400 biweekly and $1,200 a week.
Paid time off and part-time
If holidays and vacation are paid, enter them as paid days off to see your rate per hour actually worked: 25 paid days off on a $62,400 salary raise the effective rate from $30.00 to about $33.20. If time off is unpaid, lower the paid weeks per year instead. For part-time work just change the hours per week.
No income tax, social security or state tax tables are applied, so take-home pay will be lower. Overtime rules and leave pay depend on your contract and local law.
