Results are rounded, so check critical conversions (medical, engineering, legal) against an official source.
To convert minutes to hours, multiply by 0.01666667 (1 min = 0.01666667 h) or divide by 60. Worked values: 90 min = 1.5 h, 180 min = 3 h and 450 min = 7.5 h. Minutes and hours count in base 60, so 1.5 h is 1 h 30 min, not 1 h 50 min.
How to use
- Pick a category, then choose the units in the two boxes.
- Type a number in either box; the other one converts as you type.
- Tap the swap button to flip the direction. Every other unit in the category is listed below.
- Tap any result row to copy the number.
- Both . and , are accepted as the decimal point.
- For height, type feet and inches in the feet box, e.g. 5'7" or 5 ft 7 in.
- Data sizes come in two flavors: kB, MB, GB use 1000; KiB, MiB, GiB use 1024 (what many operating systems show).
- Fuel economy is inverse: a higher MPG means a lower L/100 km, and the conversion takes care of that.
- US and imperial (UK) gallons, pints, cups and fluid ounces are different sizes; pick the one your recipe or country uses.
How the conversion works
Each unit is stored as a factor to one base unit: meters for length, kilograms for mass, liters for volume, and so on. A value is multiplied into the base unit and divided back out, so 12 in × 0.0254 m ÷ 0.3048 m = 1 ft. The factors follow the official definitions: the inch is exactly 25.4 mm, the pound exactly 0.45359237 kg, the US gallon exactly 3.785411784 L.
Two categories are not simple factors. Temperature scales have different zero points, so °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and K = °C + 273.15. Fuel economy is inverse: a car doing 30 mpg uses about 7.84 L/100 km, and a higher MPG always means fewer liters.
Units that are easy to mix up
US and imperial gallons, pints, cups and fluid ounces are different sizes; a UK pint is 568 mL and a US pint 473 mL. A short ton (US) is 2,000 lb and a long ton (UK) 2,240 lb, while a metric tonne is 1,000 kg. For data, kB, MB and GB step by 1000, but KiB, MiB and GiB step by 1024, which is why a 500 GB drive shows as about 465 GiB.

Frequently asked questions
How many centimeters are in an inch?
Exactly 2.54 cm. The international inch was fixed at 25.4 mm in 1959, so 10 in = 25.4 cm and 1 cm ≈ 0.3937 in.
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply by 9/5 and add 32: 20 °C × 1.8 + 32 = 68 °F. To go back, subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9.
How many pounds are in a kilogram?
1 kg is about 2.20462 lb. The pound is defined as exactly 0.45359237 kg, so 70 kg ≈ 154.32 lb.
Why does my 1 TB drive show less than 1 TB?
Drive makers count 1 TB as 10¹² bytes, while many operating systems divide by 1024³ and label the result GB. 10¹² bytes is about 931 GiB, so nothing is missing.
Is a UK gallon the same as a US gallon?
No. The imperial gallon is 4.54609 L and the US gallon 3.785411784 L, so the UK gallon is about 20% larger. Pints, cups and fluid ounces differ in the same way.
How big is one pyeong or tsubo?
One pyeong (tsubo) is 400/121 m², about 3.3058 m². A 33 m² apartment is roughly 10 pyeong.
Does the converter work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, every conversion runs in your browser with no server call, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
