Length –

This username generator suggests names in five styles (cool, cute, gaming, professional and fantasy) and checks every idea against the character rules of Instagram, X, Twitch, Discord, Roblox and Minecraft. Add your own word, such as your name or a hobby, set the length, and tap an idea to copy it. It also makes team names.

How to use

  1. Choose Username or Team name.
  2. Pick a style (Cool, Cute, Gaming, Professional or Fantasy) and the language of the words.
  3. Choose a platform to apply its rules, or keep Any for in-game names and display names.
  4. Type a word to build into every idea, such as your name or a hobby. Set the length and turn numbers or symbols on or off.
  5. Tap an idea to copy it. Tap the star to keep it in Favorites; Generate (or R) gives a new batch.
  • Platform rules: Instagram 1–30 characters (letters, numbers, . and _, no dot at the start or end, no “..”); X 5–15 (letters, numbers, _); Twitch 4–25 (letters, numbers, _, not starting with _); Discord 2–32 (lowercase letters, numbers, . and _, no “..”); Roblox 3–20 (letters, numbers, one _ not at the start or end); Minecraft Java 3–16 (letters, numbers, _).
  • The ideas only follow each platform’s character rules. Whether a name is still free can only be checked on the platform itself, so keep a few favorites ready.
  • With Any, Japanese and Russian ideas use their own script and other languages keep their accents. Picking a platform turns them into Latin letters (romaji or transliteration).
  • The word lists are our own and kept friendly, and every idea passes a blocklist check for rude words in all seven languages, including leetspeak spellings.
  • Favorites stay in this browser only. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Platform rules at a glance

Each platform allows different characters and lengths. Instagram: 1–30 characters, letters, numbers, periods and underscores, no period at the start or end and no two in a row. X: 5–15 characters, letters, numbers and underscores. Twitch: 4–25, letters, numbers and underscores, not starting with an underscore. Discord: 2–32, lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Roblox: 3–20, letters, numbers and at most one underscore, not at either end. Minecraft Java: 3–16, letters, numbers and underscores.

The generator only follows these character rules. Whether a name is still free can only be checked on the platform, so keep a few favorites ready.

What makes a good username

Short names are easier to remember and type; under 15 characters works on every platform listed here. Avoid strings of digits and underscores (anna_1987_x), which look like spam and reveal personal data such as a birth year. Use the same name everywhere if you can, so people find you across apps. Every idea passes a blocklist for rude words in all supported languages, including leetspeak spellings.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a username that is not taken?

Generate a batch, star the ones you like, and try them on the platform’s sign-up or edit-profile page. Adding your own word or a short suffix makes a free name more likely.

How long can an Instagram username be?

Up to 30 characters, using letters, numbers, periods and underscores. A period cannot be first, last or doubled.

Can I include my name in every idea?

Yes. Type a word in the field and it is built into each idea, combined with words in the style you picked.

What makes a good gamer tag?

Something short, easy to say over voice chat and without long number strings. The Gaming style mixes punchy words and fits Twitch and Roblox length limits.

Are my favorites saved?

Yes, in this browser only. Nothing you type or save is sent anywhere.
