Keep this tab open. The alarm rings only while the browser is running and the device is awake.
Laps
A 5:30 alarm means lights out around 21:30 if you want 8 hours, or 20:30 for 9. Add repeat days for a weekday routine, choose a 5, 10 or 15 minute snooze, and leave this tab open overnight.
How to use
- Press Add alarm, set the time and press Save. Or tap a quick time such as 7:00.
- Give it a label, choose repeat days, a sound and the snooze length. Tap a sound to hear it.
- Leave this tab open. When the alarm rings, press Stop or Snooze.
- Turn on Notify to also get a system notification, and Stay on to keep the screen awake.
- The alarm runs in this browser tab. It cannot ring if the browser is closed, the computer sleeps or the phone locks and suspends the page.
- Browsers only allow sound after you have touched the page once. If you see the yellow bar, tap it once.
- In a background tab some browsers check timers only once a minute, so the alarm may start a little late. Keep the tab visible for exact timing.
- Alarms stay in this browser only. A one-time alarm switches itself off after it rings.
What makes a browser alarm reliable
An alarm in a web page can only ring while the browser runs and the device is awake. Plug in a laptop and keep it from sleeping, or use a phone on a charger with the tab in front; turn on Stay on so the screen does not lock the page.
Browsers allow sound only after you touch the page once, so tap anywhere after setting the alarm. In a background tab some browsers check timers only about once a minute, so keep the tab visible when the exact minute matters.
Repeat, snooze and labels
Choose Once, Every day, Weekdays, Weekends or any set of days. Snooze pushes the alarm back by the length you picked, and a label such as Take medicine or Leave for school appears when it rings. Alarms are saved in this browser, so they are still there tomorrow.
Working out a bedtime
Count back from the alarm: for 8 hours of sleep before a 7:00 alarm, be asleep by 23:00. Most health organizations suggest at least 7 hours for adults, so a 6:00 alarm points to falling asleep around 23:00 or earlier.
Frequently asked questions
Will the alarm ring if my computer goes to sleep?
No. A web page cannot wake a sleeping device. Keep the computer or phone awake and the tab open, or use the device’s built-in alarm for critical wake-ups.
Can I set more than one alarm?
Yes. Add as many alarms as you like, each with its own time, label, repeat days, sound and snooze length, and switch them on or off individually.
How long does snooze last?
You can choose 5, 10 or 15 minutes for each alarm. Press Snooze or the S key while it rings.
Why does the alarm sometimes ring late?
In a background tab some browsers run timers only about once a minute to save power. Keep the tab in front, or turn on notifications, for minute-exact alarms.
Are my alarms stored online?
No. They are saved in this browser on this device and are not sent anywhere.
