Writes words in lowercase joined by underscores: “Order Total Amount” becomes order_total_amount and getUserID becomes get_user_id. snake_case is the PEP 8 style for Python functions and variables and common for database column names.

How to use

  1. Type or paste text, or drop a text file onto the box.
  2. Every conversion updates as you type: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case and more.
  3. Tap a row to copy that result.
  4. Tap the arrow next to a result to replace your input with it and keep editing.
  • Title Case keeps short words such as a, of, the and in lowercase unless they start or end the title, and leaves acronyms like NASA or iPhone as they are.
  • Programming cases (camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case…) convert each line separately, so you can convert a whole list of names at once. They split words at spaces, punctuation and existing case changes, so getUserID becomes get_user_id.
  • Accented, Greek and Cyrillic letters are converted correctly. Chinese and Japanese characters have no case and stay as they are.
  • Your text stays in this browser.

Text cases explained

UPPERCASE and lowercase change every letter. Sentence case capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence, which is how most body text and many headlines in news sites are written. Title Case capitalizes the main words of a title and keeps short articles, conjunctions and prepositions such as a, and, of and in lowercase unless they start or end the title. Capitalize Each Word simply raises the first letter of every word.

Title Case here keeps acronyms such as NASA and brand spellings such as iPhone unchanged, since lowercasing them would be a mistake.

Programming cases

camelCase (userName) is common for JavaScript variables, PascalCase (UserName) for class names, snake_case (user_name) for Python and database columns, kebab-case (user-name) for URLs and CSS classes, and CONSTANT_CASE for constants. Words are split at spaces, punctuation and existing case changes, so getUserID becomes get_user_id. Each line is converted separately, so a whole list of names converts in one paste.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert uppercase to lowercase?

Paste the text and tap the lowercase row to copy it. All other conversions are shown at the same time, so you can also copy Sentence case if the text should keep capital letters at the start of sentences.

What is the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?

Title Case capitalizes every main word (The Lord of the Rings), while Sentence case capitalizes only the first word and proper nouns (The lord of the rings would need the names fixed by hand).

Does Title Case follow APA, Chicago or AP style?

It follows the shared core of these guides: short articles, conjunctions and prepositions stay lowercase. The guides differ on longer prepositions such as about or between, so check those against the style you need.

Does it work with accented and Cyrillic letters?

Yes. Accented Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters change case correctly. Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters have no case and stay as they are.

Can I convert a list of variable names at once?

Yes. Put one name per line; camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case and the other programming cases convert each line on its own.
