This online notepad saves every note automatically as you type and keeps it on this device, with no account or sign-in. Keep several notes, search them, find and replace text, preview Markdown, and export a note as .txt or .md or all notes as a .zip. Once loaded, it also works without an internet connection.
How to use
- Type in the editor. Every change is saved automatically on this device.
- Tap Notes to switch between notes, search them, or start a new one.
- Turn on Preview to read Markdown (headings, lists, checkboxes, tables, code). Use Find to search and replace in the current note.
- Copy the note, export it as .txt or .md, export all notes as a .zip, or import text files.
- Privacy: your notes are stored only in this browser on this device (IndexedDB). They are never uploaded, and there is no account or sync.
- Clearing site data or using a private window removes notes. Export important notes as a backup.
- Notes open in another tab of this site stay in sync.
- The page works without a connection once loaded.
Where your notes are stored
Notes are saved in your browser’s own database (IndexedDB) on this device, a fraction of a second after you stop typing. They are never uploaded, and there is no sync between devices. The flip side is that they live only in this browser: clearing site data, using a private window or switching to another browser or phone means the notes are not there. Export important notes regularly; Export all creates one .zip with every note as a separate text file.
If you open the notepad in two tabs, both stay in sync, so you will not overwrite a note by accident.
Writing with Markdown
Markdown is plain text with a few symbols for formatting: # for a heading, - or * for a bullet, [ ] for a checkbox, **bold**, *italic*, `code` and | for table columns. The text stays readable as it is, and Preview shows it formatted, with headings, lists, checkboxes, tables and code blocks. Exported .md files open in most note apps, code editors and documentation tools.
Frequently asked questions
Are my notes saved automatically?
Yes. Each change is saved on this device shortly after you type, so closing the tab or the browser does not lose your text.
Can I access my notes on another device?
Not directly; there is no account or cloud sync. Export the notes as .txt, .md or .zip and import them on the other device.
Is the notepad private?
Yes. Notes stay in this browser on this device and are never sent to a server. Anyone using the same browser profile can see them, though.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
Clearing site data or browsing history with site data removes the notes. Export them first if you need to clear your browser.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, you can keep writing without a connection and the notes are still saved.
