Time zone and daylight saving rules can change, so confirm important times with the people involved.

Paris is 5–6 hours behind Ho Chi Minh City, depending on daylight saving time. In January, 9:00 in Paris is 15:00 in Ho Chi Minh City; in July it is 14:00. In January, office hours of 9:00–18:00 overlap for 3 hours: 9:00–12:00 in Paris is 15:00–18:00 in Ho Chi Minh City.

How to use

  1. Your local time is at the top; tap any clock to copy the time.
  2. Add cities or time zones with the search box: type a city, a country or an abbreviation such as PST or KST.
  3. Drag the timeline under the clock to see what time it will be everywhere at another hour. Tap Now to return.
  4. In the Converter, pick a date, a time and a source city to convert it to every city in your list.
  • Times come from your browser’s time zone database, which includes daylight saving rules. Keep your browser updated so recent rule changes are included.
  • Edit lets you remove cities and drag them into a new order. Your list is saved on this device only.
  • In the 24-hour table, working hours (9:00–18:00) are green and early or late hours are gray. Tap a row to convert that hour.
  • Switch between 12-hour and 24-hour clocks with the 24h button.

Converting a time correctly

To convert by hand, subtract the source city’s UTC offset and add the target’s: 15:00 in New York in January (UTC−5) is 20:00 UTC, which is 05:00 the next day in Tokyo (UTC+9). The converter does this for the date you pick, so it uses the offsets that apply on that day, not today’s.

That matters around the clock changes: Europe and North America switch on different weekends, and for a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap between them is an hour smaller than usual.

Finding a meeting time

In the 24-hour table, hours from 9:00 to 18:00 are green, early and late hours gray. Look for the row where the most cities are green; tap it to convert that hour. When there is no shared green row, rotate early or late slots so the same people do not always take the inconvenient hour.

Abbreviations to watch

Abbreviations are ambiguous: CST is US Central, China Standard and Cuba Standard Time, and IST is used for India, Ireland and Israel. Searching by city avoids the confusion, and the converter shows the UTC offset next to each place.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a time to another time zone?

Choose the date, the time and the city it refers to. Every city in your list then shows the same moment in its own local time, with the difference in hours.

What is the best time for a meeting across time zones?

Look at the 24-hour table for the hour where most cities fall inside 9:00–18:00 (green). If none does, choose the slot that is early for one side and late for the other.

Does the converter account for daylight saving time?

Yes. It applies the rules for the exact date you pick, so a meeting next month uses next month’s offsets.

Why do some places have a 30 or 45 minute offset?

A few regions set their clocks to a half or quarter hour, such as India (UTC+5:30), Newfoundland (UTC−3:30) and Nepal (UTC+5:45). The converter handles these like any other zone.

What is the difference between GMT and UTC?

For everyday use they are the same time. UTC is the precise atomic-clock standard; GMT is the older name and is also used for UK winter time.
