All zodiac signs

Zodiac signs are shown for culture and entertainment. Compatibility is tradition, not science.

Born between April 20 and May 20? Your Sun sign is Taurus, the fixed earth sign, opposite Scorpio. If your birthday is on the first or last day, enter it above: the Sun changes sign at a slightly different time each year.

How to use

  1. Pick a birthday. The Western sign and the Chinese zodiac animal appear right away.
  2. The list below shows the element, modality and ruling planet, the Chinese year with its exact start and end, the Japanese eto and Korean tti, plus the birthstone and birth flower for the month.
  3. Tap any row or tile to copy it. The tables list the dates of all twelve signs and every year of the same Chinese animal from 1900 to 2100.
  • Western signs use the usual tropical dates. The Sun moves into the next sign at a different time each year, so birthdays on the first or last day of a sign can fall either way.
  • The Chinese animal changes at the lunar new year (between January 21 and February 20), not on January 1. Dates follow the Hong Kong Observatory calendar, Beijing time.
  • In Japan the eto (干支) is counted by calendar year from January 1. In Korea the tti (띠) usually changes at Seollal, the lunar new year; Saju uses Ipchun (about February 4).
  • Compatible and clashing signs are traditional associations from astrology and the Chinese zodiac (trines, secret friends and opposites), not facts about people.
  • Birthstones follow the modern American list; birth flowers follow the common British and American month list.

How the signs are worked out

Western signs follow the usual tropical dates, from Aries (March 21 – April 19) to Pisces (February 19 – March 20). The Sun enters each sign at a slightly different moment every year, so birthdays on the first or last day of a sign can fall either way; the calculator flags these cusp dates.

The Chinese animal changes at the lunar new year, which falls between January 21 and February 20, not on January 1. Someone born on January 25, 2020, is a Pig, because the Year of the Rat began on that day. Dates follow the Hong Kong Observatory calendar.

Elements and the 60-year cycle

Western signs rotate through four elements (fire, earth, air, water) and three modalities (cardinal, fixed, mutable). Chinese years combine 12 animals with five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) and yin or yang, so the same element-animal pair, such as the Fire Horse of 2026, returns only every 60 years.

Japan and Korea

In Japan the eto (干支) is counted by calendar year from January 1, while in Korea the tti (띠) usually changes at Seollal, the lunar new year. Compatible and clashing signs are shown as traditional associations, not as facts about people.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my zodiac sign?

Enter your date of birth. Your sign is the one whose date range contains your birthday, for example July 30 is Leo (July 23 – August 22).

What if I was born on the cusp?

On the first or last day of a sign the answer depends on the year and the time of birth, because the Sun changes sign at a different moment each year. An exact birth chart with time and place settles it.

Why is my Chinese zodiac different from my birth year?

If you were born in January or early February, before the lunar new year, you belong to the previous year’s animal. The calculator checks the exact new year date for every year from 1900 to 2100.

What is my Chinese zodiac element?

It comes from the last digit of the Chinese year: 0–1 metal, 2–3 water, 4–5 wood, 6–7 fire, 8–9 earth. 2026 is a fire year and a Horse year, so it is a Fire Horse year.

Which birthstone and birth flower go with my month?

Birthstones follow the modern American list, such as garnet for January and diamond for April. Birth flowers follow the common British and American month list.

Is zodiac compatibility scientific?

No. Compatibility comes from astrological and Chinese zodiac tradition. It is shown for culture and entertainment, not as a prediction.
