Spider with one suit uses only spades, eight full sets of them, so every run you build can be moved as a block. It is the easiest version and the best way to learn how dealing, empty columns and completed runs work before trying two suits.
How to use
- Pick Klondike, FreeCell or Spider at the top. Each game keeps its own deal in progress.
- Drag cards to move them, or tap a card to send it to the best place. Double-click sends a card to its foundation.
- Klondike and FreeCell: build columns down in alternating colors and move each suit from Ace to King onto the foundations. Spider: build King-to-Ace runs of one suit; full runs are removed.
- Tap the stock to draw (Klondike) or to deal a new row (Spider). Undo works without limit. Hint shows a useful move.
- When every card is face up, Finish moves the rest to the foundations for you.
- Winnable deals in Klondike come from a list of deals our solver has finished, assuming unlimited passes through the stock.
- Vegas scoring: you start at −$52 and earn $5 per card on a foundation. Draw 1 allows one pass through the deck, draw 3 allows three. No real money is involved.
- FreeCell deal numbers match the classic numbered games, so #1 to #1,000,000 lay out the same everywhere. Almost all are solvable. You can move as many cards at once as free cells and empty columns allow.
- The timer pauses when you leave the tab. Games, statistics and options are saved in this browser only.
Spider rules
104 cards (two decks) are dealt into ten columns: 54 on the table, four columns of 6 and six of 5, with only the top card face up. The other 50 stay in the stock and are dealt ten at a time, one on each column, five times in all. Every column must have at least one card before you can deal.
You can place any card on a card one rank higher, whatever the suit, but only a run of the same suit can be moved as a block. A complete King-to-Ace run of one suit is removed. Clear all eight runs to win.
Scoring
Spider starts at 500 points. Every move, deal and undo costs one point, and each completed run adds 100. A perfect game therefore ends at 1,300 minus the number of moves you made.
Tips
Build same-suit runs whenever you can, even if a mixed-suit move looks faster, because only same-suit runs can be moved later. Empty columns are your most valuable resource. Before each new deal, turn over as many face-down cards as possible.
