Flip a coin online: tap the 3D coin to toss it and get heads or tails with an exact 50/50 chance. The page keeps count of heads and tails, shows your current streak and lists recent flips, so it also works for best-of-three or best-of-five decisions. The randomness is cryptographic, not a fixed animation.
How to use
- Type or paste names into the list, one per line. Names, Wheel and Teams share this list, and it is saved on this device.
- Names: choose how many winners and press Pick. Turn on Remove picked to draw without repeats.
- Wheel: press Spin, tap the wheel or flick it with your finger or mouse. The winner opens in a sheet where you can remove it or spin again.
- Number: set min, max and how many, then press Generate. Unique avoids repeats and Sorted orders the results.
- Dice: choose a die from d4 to d100 and 1–10 dice, then Roll to see every value and the total.
- Coin: tap the coin to flip it. Teams: choose the number of teams or people per team and press Make teams.
- Every result comes from crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, so each name, number and face is exactly equally likely.
- On the wheel the winner is drawn fairly the moment the spin starts. How hard you flick only changes the show, never the odds.
- Your list, options and history stay in this browser. Nothing is uploaded.
- Sound and vibration only start after you tap and can be switched off. Vibration works on most Android phones.
How fair is a coin toss?
Each flip is independent: heads and tails each have a probability of exactly 1/2, no matter what came before. After five heads in a row, the next flip is still 50/50. Streaks are more common than people expect: in 100 flips, a run of at least six of the same side is very likely.
Studies of real coins found a small bias toward the side that starts facing up. A digital flip has no such bias because the result comes from crypto.getRandomValues.
Using it to decide
Call heads or tails before you tap, or agree on best of three. The counter and streak make it easy to run longer series, and the history lets everyone check the last results. Everything runs in your browser; your list and history are saved on this device only.
Frequently asked questions
Is an online coin flip really 50/50?
Yes. Each result is drawn with the browser’s cryptographic random generator, so heads and tails each have exactly a 50% chance.
Does a streak of heads make tails more likely?
No. Every flip is independent. After any streak the next flip is still exactly 50/50.
How often do long streaks happen?
More often than most people guess. In 100 fair flips, a run of six or more identical results is very likely.
Can I do best of three?
Yes. The counter tracks heads and tails for you; reset it to start a new series.
Does the animation decide the result?
No. The result is drawn first and the animation simply shows it.
